Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-09-28 · Last updated 2026-10-09

This policy explains in plain English what information Lei'd Back Charters (Salty Girl Enterprises LLC) collects, how we use it and how we look after it. It applies when you visit our website, send us a request, book a charter, buy a gift certificate, sign our waiver, or call, text or email us.

If you have questions, email hello@leidbackchartersfl.com or call or text 941-745-8500.

The short version

  • We use your details to plan and run your trip, take your payment and answer you. That's the promise on each of our forms.
  • Stripe handles card payments. We never see or store your full card number.
  • We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
  • We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use our site, and it sets cookies. What you type in our forms is hidden from it. How Clarity works
  • A few trusted services help us run things, and we name every one of them below.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time. Email hello@leidbackchartersfl.com.

What this policy covers

This policy covers our website and its forms, online checkout, our guest waiver, and any call, text or email you send us.

It doesn't cover other companies' websites, even ones we link to, such as Stripe's checkout page, Jotform's waiver page, Instagram, Facebook, Google reviews and Google Maps. When you follow one of those links, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Our Facebook share button sends the page's web address to Facebook. Our other share options use your device's own share menu or email app, or copy the link, and nothing is sent to us.

Our booking rules on payments, cancellations, weather and safety are in our Terms of Service.

Information you give us

When you request or book a charter

  • your name, email address and phone number
  • the tour you'd like, plus your preferred date and start time
  • how many adults and children are coming
  • your children's ages, if you choose to tell us, so the captain can bring life jackets that fit
  • where you'd like to meet: Spanish Point, or a private dock pick-up
  • anything you add in the notes, such as the occasion, dietary needs or anything else we should know

If you choose a private dock pick-up

  • the dock's address (a street address, or a rental or marina and slip)
  • roughly how far it is by water, and whether you want a round trip, a pick-up only or a drop-off only
  • your confirmation that the dock owner or rental manager has said it's OK

When you send us a question from our home page

  • your name and email address, your phone number if you choose to give it, and your message

When you buy a gift certificate

  • the amount, and whether you'd like a digital certificate or a printed one by mail
  • your name, email address and phone number
  • the recipient's name and your personal message
  • for a printed certificate, the U.S. mailing address you enter at Stripe's checkout

When you give us someone else's details, such as a gift recipient's name or your children's ages, please make sure they're comfortable with you sharing them.

When you pay online

Stripe's secure checkout page asks for your email address, phone number and payment details, and for a printed gift certificate, the mailing address. See Payments.

When you sign our waiver

Every guest signs our liability waiver before boarding. The waiver is hosted by Jotform and asks for:

  • each guest's name
  • the name the trip was booked under
  • the charter date and type
  • email address and phone number
  • the guest's agreement and signature

When someone signs for a child, it also asks for the child's name and the parent or guardian's name and signature. We receive everything entered on the waiver.

When you call, text or email us

We receive your message along with your phone number or email address. If one of our forms can't send, the site offers to open a ready-to-send email to us, or to copy your details so you can send them another way. Nothing leaves your device until you send it yourself.

Information collected automatically

Like any website, ours needs a few technical details to work:

  • Our host, Vercel, handles every visit. It receives your IP address, your browser and device type, the page you asked for (its full web address, including a confirmation link) and the page you came from. Vercel keeps these technical logs for a limited time, for security and troubleshooting.
  • Our own visit statistics note which page you viewed, the website or link that sent you there, and whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, without cookies and without storing your IP address. See Cookies, analytics and Do Not Track.
  • Microsoft Clarity records how you use our pages, such as the pages you visit and where you click, tap and scroll, with our forms hidden. See Cookies, analytics and Do Not Track.
  • Our checkout keeps your personal details out of its technical logs.
  • Fonts, weather and maps. When a page loads, your browser fetches our fonts from Google Fonts and the latest Sarasota Bay weather reading for our header from the U.S. National Weather Service. On the Trip Info page, it also loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap. These services receive your IP address and browser details, as any web server does, but nothing you type into our forms. The weather comes from fixed weather stations near Sarasota Bay, and we never ask for your location.

How we use your information

We use your details to:

  • answer your questions and requests
  • plan and run your trip: confirm your date and start time, have the right life jackets aboard, arrange your meeting point or dock pick-up, and keep you posted about the weather
  • take payments, send receipts, and handle refunds, reschedules and payment disputes
  • arrange, deliver and honor gift certificates
  • keep a signed waiver for every guest
  • keep everyone safe, and respond in an emergency
  • keep our website secure, and prevent fraud and spam
  • count visits to our website and see which pages, partners and links bring guests to us (our own statistics, described under Cookies, analytics and Do Not Track)
  • see how visitors use our website, so we can fix problems and make it easier to use
  • keep the business records we must keep for tax and accounting, and handle any legal claims

Our forms promise that we use your details only to plan your trip, answer you or arrange your certificate. This list is the longer version of that promise: payments, safety, security and record-keeping are all part of doing those things properly.

We don't use your information for marketing unless you ask us to, and we never use it to build advertising profiles. The one exception is photos of guests who've agreed we can share them (see Photos on the water).

Children and sensitive details

  • Bookings and gift certificate purchases are made by adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13.
  • We learn about children only from a parent, guardian or the adult who books: their ages on the booking form (optional), and their names on the waiver. We use children's ages only to bring life jackets that fit and to plan the trip safely.
  • Dietary, mobility, accessibility or medical needs: tell us when it helps us take good care of you, but please share only what the captain needs to know. You don't need to send medical records or a detailed health history.
  • These details travel with your booking. They're in the email to our booking inbox and, if you pay online, in your payment record at Stripe. We use them only for your trip, and never for marketing.
  • If you think a child has sent us information, email hello@leidbackchartersfl.com and we'll delete it.

Payments

Stripe handles every online payment. When you pay for a charter or a gift certificate, you finish on Stripe's secure checkout page, and your card details go straight to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

At checkout, Stripe collects:

  • your email address and phone number
  • your payment details (a card, or Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link where offered) and any billing details needed to process the payment
  • for a printed gift certificate, the U.S. mailing address to send it to

We keep your order details with the payment in our Stripe account, so your payment and your trip stay matched up:

  • Charters: the tour, date and start time, the number of adults and children, children's ages, your meeting point or dock address, prices and any pick-up fee, whether you paid the deposit or in full (and any tip), your name and your notes
  • Gift certificates: the gift code and amount, your name, the recipient's name, the delivery method and your message

Stripe emails you a receipt. Stripe also uses payment information for its own purposes, such as preventing fraud, under Stripe's privacy policy. Once your payment goes through, FormSubmit emails a summary of your booking or purchase to our booking inbox, so your captain has everything they need.

Keep your confirmation link private

After you pay, you'll land on a confirmation page. Anyone with that page's web address can see your trip or gift details. For the first 48 hours, that includes your email address, any dock address, and a gift's code and message. After that we hide those, but a trip's tour, date, time, party size and amounts paid, or a gift's amount and the names on it (and, for a mailed gift, the recipient's name and town), stay visible. Please don't share or post the link, and treat a gift code like cash.

Who we share it with

We share your information only with the people and services that help us run your trip, and only what they need:

  • Our captains, Captain Kelly and Captain Joe, and anyone who helps us run your trip or look after our website.
  • Stripe handles payments, receipts and fraud screening. Stripe's privacy policy
  • FormSubmit emails our website forms and payment notifications to our booking inbox. It receives what you type, plus your IP address and browser details. FormSubmit's website
  • Google Workspace is our business email. It stores the messages you send us and the summaries our forms send us. Google's privacy policy
  • Jotform hosts our guest waiver. Jotform's privacy policy
  • Vercel hosts our website. Vercel's privacy notice
  • Neon runs the database, provided through Vercel, where we keep our booking records, the messages you send through our forms, and our visit statistics. Neon's privacy policy
  • Microsoft runs Clarity, which shows us how visitors use our site (see Cookies, analytics and Do Not Track). Microsoft Privacy Statement
  • Google Fonts, the U.S. National Weather Service and OpenStreetMap receive your IP address and browser details when they deliver fonts, weather and map tiles. Google's privacy policy · National Weather Service privacy policy · OpenStreetMap Foundation's privacy policy
  • The U.S. Postal Service gets the mailing address when we mail a printed gift certificate.
  • Phone and email networks carry your calls, texts and emails to us.
  • Our accountant, insurer or attorney may see your information if they need it for taxes, an insurance claim or a legal matter.
  • Authorities and emergency responders, such as the U.S. Coast Guard, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) or law enforcement, when the law requires it or someone's safety is at risk.
  • A new owner would receive our records if the business is ever sold, and we'd make sure they keep protecting them as this policy describes.

Cookies, analytics and Do Not Track

Our own visit statistics. Our website counts visits itself, without cookies and without any analytics company. For each page you view, we record the page, the website or link that sent you (just its address, such as google.com, and any campaign tags in the link), your rough device type (phone, tablet or computer), your browser's name and your country. To count visitors without identifying them, we use a code made from your IP address and browser details, scrambled with a secret key, that changes every day; we never store the IP address itself, so we can't recognize you from one day to the next. We also note the booking steps you reach (viewing tours, the booking page, starting checkout, and a completed payment) so we can see where the booking process could be easier. We don't record what you type, and we never use these statistics for advertising.

Microsoft Clarity. We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use our website: which pages they visit, where they click, tap and scroll, and where something isn't working. Clarity makes recordings of visits (session replays) and heatmaps. We use them only to fix problems and improve the site, not for advertising.

  • Our forms are hidden from Clarity. What you type in our booking, contact and gift certificate forms isn't recorded, and neither are the details on your payment confirmation page.
  • Clarity uses cookies. On our site it sets _clck, which recognizes your browser when you come back, and _clsk, which links the pages of one visit. Microsoft also sets its own cookies, such as CLID and MUID, which can recognize your browser on other websites that use Clarity and on Microsoft's own sites and services, where Microsoft also uses them for advertising.
  • What Microsoft receives: how you use our pages, plus your IP address and your device and browser details. According to Microsoft, recordings are deleted after 30 days and heatmap data after 9 months.
  • Learn more in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Browser storage. Apart from those cookies, our own code keeps only small notes in your browser:

  • The latest weather reading (in local storage, as lb-weather), so the next page can show the Sarasota Bay weather straight away. It contains no personal information. We reuse it for up to 20 minutes, and it stays in your browser until you clear it.
  • Your unfinished checkout (in session storage, for that browser tab only). Just before you go to Stripe, your browser saves a copy of the form you filled in, so you don't have to retype it if you press Back or cancel. It can include your name, email address, phone number, dock address and notes. It's never sent to us. We erase it once your payment is confirmed, your browser clears it when you close the tab, and we ignore any copy older than 24 hours. On a shared or public computer, please close the tab when you're done.

How to control it: you can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings (look for an option such as "cookies and site data" or "clear browsing data"). Our site still works: the weather just loads fresh, and Clarity doesn't set cookies in a browser that blocks them. Content blockers can also stop Clarity from loading.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: when your browser sends either signal, our own visit statistics don't record your visit at all. Clarity doesn't currently change how it works for these signals: blocking cookies or using a content blocker, as described above, is the way to keep Clarity from recognizing your browser.

Tracking across other websites: we don't track you across other websites, and we don't use advertising pixels or embedded social media widgets (our social media buttons are plain links). Microsoft's cookies, described above, may let Microsoft recognize your browser across other websites and services.

Other sites' cookies: Stripe's checkout page and Jotform's waiver page run on their own websites and may set their own cookies, for example to prevent fraud. Instagram, Facebook and Google set their own cookies when you visit them through our links.

Calls, texts and emails

  • If you give us your phone number, we may call or text you about your booking, the weather on your trip day, pick-up details or your gift certificate. Message and data rates may apply.
  • We email you about your request, booking or purchase, and Stripe emails your receipt.
  • We don't send marketing texts or promotional emails unless you ask us to. If that ever changes, we'll ask first, and every promotional message will include an easy way to stop.
  • Reply STOP to any text and we'll stop texting you. We'll reach you by email or phone call about your booking instead. You can also just tell us in any reasonable way, and we'll honor it.

Photos on the water

Your captain may take photos or short videos during your trip, and you're welcome to take as many as you like.

  • We share only photos of guests who've agreed, through the photo release in our waiver or by telling us. A parent or guardian decides for children.
  • You can say no on the day. Just tell your captain.
  • You can change your mind at any time. Email hello@leidbackchartersfl.com and we'll take photos of you or your child off our website and our own social media accounts.

The same rule is in our Terms of Service.

How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as we need it:

  • Requests, emails and booking details: long enough to plan and run your trip, answer follow-up questions, and handle any refund, dispute or claim.
  • Payment records at Stripe and our business records: as long as tax and accounting rules require.
  • Signed waivers: as long as we reasonably need them to protect our guests and our business if a claim arises.
  • Technical logs: Vercel keeps them for a limited time, then deletes them automatically.
  • Clarity data: according to Microsoft, recordings are deleted after 30 days and heatmap data after 9 months.
  • Browser storage: it lives on your device, and you control it (see cookies and browser storage).

When we no longer need information, we delete it or dispose of it securely.

How we protect it

  • Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
  • Card payments happen on Stripe's secure checkout, and card numbers never reach us.
  • We limit access to our booking inbox and payment account to the people who need it, and use the security features our providers offer.
  • Our forms are hidden from Clarity's recordings.

No website or email system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable care. If a data breach ever affects your personal information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • show you the personal information we have about you
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop texts or emails

To make a request, email hello@leidbackchartersfl.com or call or text 941-745-8500. We may ask a question or two, such as your booking date, to make sure it's really you. We'll respond within 45 days.

Sometimes we have to keep certain records, such as payment and tax records, signed waivers, or details we need for an upcoming trip, refund or claim. If so, we'll tell you. We'll delete what we can from our own inbox and accounts. Our service providers may keep some records under their own legal obligations; Stripe, for example, keeps payment records.

We don't sell your personal information, including sensitive information such as children's ages or health details, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.

Notes for California, Nevada and Florida residents

  • California: we don't sell your personal information, and we don't give it to other companies for their own marketing. How our site responds to Do Not Track signals, and the Microsoft cookies that may recognize your browser across other websites, are described in Cookies, analytics and Do Not Track. You can review or change the information we hold as described in Your choices and rights.
  • Nevada: we don't sell covered information. You can still ask us not to sell it in the future by emailing hello@leidbackchartersfl.com, and we'll respond within 60 days.
  • Florida: we don't sell personal data, including sensitive data. We keep your information reasonably secure and dispose of it securely, as Florida law requires.

Visitors from outside the U.S.

We're a small charter business on Sarasota Bay, Florida, and we run our website from the United States. We handle your information in the U.S., and our service providers may process it in the U.S. or other countries. Privacy laws here may differ from those where you live. Wherever you're visiting from, you're welcome to use the choices in Your choices and rights.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. For important changes, we'll also email guests who have upcoming bookings. Before we use information in a new way, such as adding a new analytics or advertising tool or sending promotional emails, we'll update this policy first.
